Sysco strikes Gold with Microsoft ERP

Microsoft has new competency policies in place for all partners.The new competencies will be enforced from May 1st 2011. We are delighted to announce that Sysco has already achieved the highest Gold status for the ERP competency – Sysco are the only partner to achieve this level in Ireland. Sysco has also attained a Silver Customer Relationship Management competency and a Silver Data Platform competency.

Cloud Computing Report released

Microsoft Ireland commissioned a major report by Goodbody Economic Consultants which was published today. The report entitled Ireland’s Competitiveness and Jobs Opportunity: Cloud Computing, documents that Ireland has the opportunity to create jobs and help restore competitiveness if we move quickly to establish Ireland as a Global Cloud Computing Centre of Excellence.

CRM Online Launch

Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer cut the ribbon yesterday on the company’s latest effort to pump more of its software estate into the cloud – the launch of its Dynamics CRM Online product.

Until Ballmer’s relatively recent proclamation that Microsoft was “all-in” on the cloud, the vendor had concentrated much more heavily on its on-premises version of Dynamics.

: IIA Cloud Computing Working Group Survey 2010

The Cloud Computing Survey is being run again this year, to give us an indication of how Cloud Computing views have changed in the last year. We sent this survey out last year and would hope that people would participate again this year.

The Irish Internet Association (IIA) Cloud Computing Working Group is running this survey, in association with Sysco and ReadyDynamics.com, to gather information and increase understanding of cloud adoption in Ireland. The results will give a clear indication of the state of the Irish market for comparison against the results published last year.

Every respondent will receive a copy of the results when they are published. To participate, please visit click the link.

All respondents will receive a complimentary (updated) copy of our Whitepaper (Cloud Business) which is being written in collaboration with all the major cloud vendors (Google, IBM, Microsoft, Salesforce, Supplierforce, etc.) and some major Irish enterprises.

The direction of cloud computing is towards the commoditization of IT. This will challenge traditional IT resellers. A commodity is defined as a good which is supplied without qualitative differentiation across a market. What this means for sellers is that buyers don’t really care who they buy the commodity from and worse as the market matures:

1.Information Technology becomes cheap

2.Less need for the middleman

3.Less need for services

4.No upfront cash for software purchases

This challenge will pressurise traditional IT resellers without steady recurring revenue.
